Is Hines Ward Calling It Quits?

After a season-ending loss to the Denver Broncos on January 8th, the Steeler Nation quickly turned its attention towards star wide receiver, Hines Ward, and his future as a Pittsburgh Steeler. Rumors of retirement after the 2011-2012 season have been floating around all year, yet Ward denies any such act. Numbers-wise, his statistics this year have been some of the lowest of his 13 year career. But while his numbers haven't been as impressive as previous seasons, Ward remains to be an important face in the the organization. He is one of the most recognizable athletes. He has done a lot for the Steelers organization and his presence would be missed on and off the field. Ward has said he's not ready to retire, and currently because of contract negotiations, his future with the Steelers is unclear. While not all athletes get a storybook finish, Hines deserves a chance to retire with the team he has spent 13 years devoting his time, skills, and life to.

  1. I do not think he will retire quite yet. With an athlete so dedicated to his career, it is hard to give up that passion so suddenly. I definitely think he will stay at least one more season.

  2. I honestly think the Patriots will make a strong push for him. Ward and Welker are both great possession receivers and with how well Welker fits in with the Patriots, I think Ward would do the same.
